The coffee essential oil is extracted from the cold pressing of roasted coffee beans, Coffea Arabica quality. This variety of coffee is the one that contains the highest amount of oil, around 15% (Raba et al, PLoS One, 2018). So today we are talking about the properties of this very special essential oil and its uses for the well-being of the mind and for the beauty of the skin.
Coffee oil for mood and memory
Inhaling the aroma of coffee helps improve cognitive function, attention and memory. Not only that, the coffee oil diffused in the room drives away sadness and depression and improves mood (Hawiset et al, Integr Med Res, 2019). You can spread the essential coffee oil in the room using an oil burner.
Coffee oil for the skin
Coffee oil is rich in fatty acids, including linoleic, palmitic, oleic and stearic acids, which are not modified in any way by the roasting of coffee beans, and phenols, which are antioxidants (Raba et al, PLoS One, 2018). These properties have been shown to be useful for the skin as they are capable of stimulating the healing processes in case of wounds (Lania et al, PLoS One, 2017). Not only that, coffee oil also proves to be anti-aging, useful in combating aging processes and wrinkles (Wagemaker et al, Int J Cosmet Sci, 2015). Thanks to its anti-inflammatory and emollient action, coffee oil soothes sunburn and protects the skin from damage from UV rays and erythema, regenerating the skin (Yang et al, Int J Nanomedicine., 2017). You can add a drop of coffee essential oil to a tablespoon of a vegetable oil, sweet almond oil for the skin of the body or jojoba oil for the face, for example, and apply to damp skin with slow circular motions until absorbed.
