From the gum resin of ferula gommosa, a plant of the Apiaceae family, an essential oil with painkilling, antirheumatic, antispasmodic, expectorant, digestive and antiseptic properties is obtained. This essential oil is useful also to treat inflammations and infections of the skin, acne and psoriasis. Be careful, don’t use this essential oil during pregnancy, breastfeeding and in small children.
Cough, catarrh
Galbanum essential oil helps thinning catarrh and soothe cough. Try to mix 10 drops of essential oil with a tablespoon of neutral cream or plant-based oil and apply on the chest.
Stomach cramps, poor digestion, problems of the liver and gallbladder
Mix a tablespoon of a plant-based oil that you like and ten drops of galbanum essential oil and apply on the region of the solar plexus.
Blood circulation, frostbite, rheumatism
Galbanum essential oil improves blood circulation and it can also be useful in order to counteract arthritis, rheumatism and stiff joints. Heat a cup of water and once lukewarm remove from heat, then, add ten drops of galbanum essential oil. Soak gauze in this water and apply on the interested parts. In case of frostbite you can mix a tablespoon of St John’s wort oil and ten drops of galbanum essential oil, apply on the part by massaging.
Acne, skin inflammations, psoriasis, scars, wrinkles, stretch marks
Boil 100 ml of water, remove then from heat and let it cool down. Add ten drops of galbanum essential oil, soak a gauze and apply on the skin.
Fears, anger issue
Galbanum essential oil is able to work on fears, hysteria and paranoia, helps bring calm after anger attacks and nervousness, suitable for those people who have nervous ticks such as nail biting or touch continuously the hair or move the legs. You can pour 2-3 drops on a handkerchief and breathe the scent when you need, or, alternatively, you can diffuse the galbanum essential oil in the room. You can also add to the water of the bath a handful of coarse sea salt and ten drops of essential oil for a relaxing action.
