How to get rid of neck, back and joint pain with essential oils
The essential oils of black pepper, ginger and rosemary are useful to counteract the back, neck and joint pain.
Back and joint pain, sore neck and rheumatism are some of the problems that may be treated also with essential oils. Today we will see the best essential oils with painkilling, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties that you can apply on the soreness. Don’t apply directly the pure essential oil on the skin, but dilute it always in a carrier oil in the proportion of 1 tablespoon of oil and 2-3 drops of essence. As a carrier oil you can use the St John’s Wort oil, but in this case it is better not to expose the part to the sun in order to avoid photosensitivity, another possibility is given by wheat germ oil, then there is also the sweet almond oil or the jojoba oil. In alternative you can prepare a calming and analgesic bath by adding to the water a handful of Dead Sea salt with ten drops of essential oil. During pregnancy, breastfeeding or if you suffer from seizures ask your doctor for advice before using the essential oils. Don’t use these oils in small children.
Black pepper essential oil
Black pepper essential oil is good to treat neck pain, low back pain, rheumatism and also the annoying sensation of sand in the neck. This essential oil has a warming effect and results able to stimulate the microcirculation, it removes stiffness and drain toxins, that cause pain and inflammation. In 1 tablespoon of plant based oil add 3 drops of black pepper essential oil and massage the part. But the black pepper essential oil may also be used together with other oils in order to take advantage from the synergy and to increase its beneficial effect. In fact, according to a research published in 2014 by a team of Taiwan scientists in the Journal of alternative and complementary medicine (Ou Mc et al), there are interesting benefits in case of neck pain thanks to the application of a neutral cream prepared with the addition, in a percentage of 3%, of the essential oils of lavender, marjoram, peppermint and black pepper. It has been possible to show, in particular, a decrease of the pain and an improvement of mobility.
Ginger essential oil
This essential oil removes toxins and has an excellent anti-inflammatory action, thus resulting useful in case of rheumatism, joint and muscle pain and back pain. Indeed, according to an Australian study (Sritoomma et al, Complement Ther Med, Feb 2014), a massage performed with ginger essential oil is able to soothe the chronic pain of the low back. Moreover, for what concerns the joints, also in this case science has demonstrated the effectiveness of the ginger essential oil. A massage with ginger essential oil is helpful indeed to soothe the pain and to improve the functionality in case of knee pain (Yip et al, Complement Ther Med, Jun 2008 ).
Rosemary essential oil
Rosemary stimulates the microcirculation and shows a powerful anti-inflammatory and painkilling effect (Takaki et al, J Med Food, Dec 2008), for this reason it results useful in case of rheumatism and muscle and joint pain (Andrade et al, Future Sci OA, Apr 2018).
