Myristica fragrans is a tree native to the Indonesian Moluccas from which a very scented spice is obtained, the nutmeg, that is the seed of the plant. The essential oil is made from the nutmeg through steam distillation, it is anti-rheumatic, anti-inflammatory, it is helpful for the health of the gastrointestinal tract and acts as a tonic and stimulant for the nervous system and the brain activity, it improves concentration and counteracts asthenia. Nutmeg essential oil is strong and it is contraindicated if you suffer from epilepsy, seizures, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, in small children, in general don’t exceed the dose of this essential oil because if in high quantity it can be toxic and can cause palpitations and sweating.
Rheumatism, rigid muscles, pain, back pain, toothache
In order to relax the muscles, soothe joint pain, toothache or muscle pain you can use the nutmeg essential oil. Don’t use the nutmeg essential oil pure on the skin, add 2-3 drops in a tablespoon of calendula oil as well as arnica or wheat germ oil, apply on the part and massage until it is completely absorbed.
Diarrhea, belly ache, flatulence, digestive problems
mix a tablespoon of wheat germ oil and 2-3 drops of nutmeg essential oil and massage on belly and stomach in order to get relief in case of pain, poor digestion, cramps. It is helpful to relieve trapped wind and to improve digestion.
Oily hair
Nutmeg essential oil is also able to regulate the sebum production, useful in case of oily hair and scalp, you can add 2-3 drops of nutmeg essential oil to the shampoo, apply as usual then wash.
Tensions, mental fatigue, stress, apathy
You can prepare a relaxing bath, able also to stimulate the nervous system, just add 10 drops of nutmeg essential oil in the water. It improves and strengthens concentration, useful for those people that tend to fall into apathy.
