Palmarosa essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the leaves of an Indian grass, Cymbopogon martinii, with a sweet scent that reminds of that of the rose. This essential oil has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, moisturizing and antimicrobial properties, it is used in case of alterations of the intestinal bacterial flora, problems related to the respiratory tract such as sinusitis and bronchitis, to treat skin with wrinkles, stretch marks, acne or eczema, in order to soften hair of dogs and cats and, thanks to its action on the nervous system, to soothe attacks of anger, nervousness, anxiety. Don’t use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Skin

Palmarosa essential oil has an antiseptic, disinfectant, moisturizing effect on the skin and, first of all, it is able to regenerate skin cells. For this reason, it is applied in case of wrinkles, stretch marks, scars and other skin diseases such as acne, wounds or eczema. Bring to boil 100 ml of water, then let it cool down, add 10 drops of essential oil and soak a gauze, apply it on the part of skin with pimples, wounds or irritations. In case of wrinkles add to a little face or body cream 5 drops of palmarosa essential oil and apply. Also the pets can benefit a lot from palmarosa essential oil, it can indeed help in case of dermatitis and can contribute make the hair of dogs and cats glossy and soft, but remember that the essential oil should be used only diluted and just for external application.

Sinusitis, bronchitis

Heat the water for steam inhalation, then add 5 drops of essential oil, cover the head with a towel and breathe in order to benefit from the antimicrobial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect. In addition to this, the palmarosa essential oil supports the immune system.

Alterations of the intestinal bacterial flora

You can take two drops of essential oil diluted in half a glass of water with a teaspoon of honey.

Nervousness, stress

Thanks to the relaxing action on the nervous system palmarosa essential oil acts as a hypotensive, soothes anger and anxiety. Moreover, it promotes calm and trust and for this reason it results suitable for those people who are too rigid, strict or troubled, it harmonizes and relaxes. You can prepare a bath by adding 10 drops of essential oil to the water, stay for 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can diffuse the essential oil in the room, one drop each square meter.
