Patchouli, scientific name Pogostemon cablin, is a plant of the Lamiacee family, the same as lavender and mint, that are aromatic plants. From patchouli an essential oil with balancing, cicatrizing, antifungal, tonic and aphrodisiac properties is obtained. Don’t use during pregnancy and breastfeeding or in small children. Let’s see the main uses.

Stress

In case of stress and tensions you can prepare a relaxing bath by adding to the water 10 drops of patchouli essential oil. This treatment results helpful also for the skin, that will appear more tonic. Alternatively, against anxiety attacks, you can mix 100 ml of cold water and 5-6 drops of patchouli essential oil and apply on wrists and sides of head. By mixing 10 drops of essential oil and 100 ml of sweet almond oil you can obtain an oil for massages able to relieve tensions and useful against water retention and cellulite.

Acne, wrinkles, fungus, yeast infection like candida

Patchouli essential oil is useful also to treat a lot of problems of skin. In case of pimples try to mix 100 ml of water, 5 drops of tea tree essential oil and 5 of patchouli essential oil, apply the mix on the pimple with a cotton ball. For an anti-wrinkle effect and an action against dull skin try to add 2-3 drops of patchouli essential oil to a little face cream and apply. In case of fungal infections, such as athlete’s foot, two drops of essential oil can be applied on the part, while sitz bath with 5-6 drops of essential oil can be useful against yeast infections such as candida.

Oily hair and dandruff

5 drops of patchouli essential oil can be added to the shampoo, that will be applied on your hair. This treatment is helpful against the excessive sebum production, dandruff and hair loss.

Balancing and aphrodisiac action

Patchouli essential oil can help during periods of stress, tensions and anxiety because it can balance emotions by harmonizing them. Patchouli essential oil is useful for people that are too much stressed, that tend always to be active without relaxing but the essential oil can be also useful, at the same time, for people who are dreamer with the head in the clouds. Patchouli essential oil also helps to remove guilt and to appreciate our body, it has also an aphrodisiac action. You can diffuse in the room with an oil burner, a drop each square meter is enough.
