Spikenard essential oil
Deep relaxing action, able to slow heart, acts against anxiety, stress, insomnia, mood changes, anti-inflammatory properties useful in case of muscle pain, purifying action for the skin, able to treat dry and damaged skin, eczema and fungus.
Spikenard, or nard or muskroot, scientific name Nardostachys jatamansi, is a plant of the Valerianaceae family. From the root, through steam distillation, an essential oil with a deep calming and harmonizing, anti-inflammatory, soothing and antifungal action is obtained.
Spikenard essential oil brings calm, slows the heart and gives serenity. If stress is too much and it is difficult to breathe, or if you suffer from insomnia or you wake up in the morning still tired as though you didn’t sleep you can use spikenard essential oil. Try to prepare a relaxing massage by pouring 5 drops of spikenard essential oil in a tablespoon of sweet almond oil, apply from the elbows and then go up along the arm and arrive to the heart region. Alternatively, you can have a bath, add a handful of sea salt and ten drops of essential oil and stay for about fifteen minutes. This will help harmonize the mood changes, relax, but also your skin will benefit. In fact, the skin will appear more beautiful and bright thanks to this essential oil, that has detox properties and is also useful to treat other problems of skin such as eczema, irritations, fungus, dry and damaged skin. Spikenard essential oil can also be diffused in the room with an oil burner for a relaxing action.
Anti-inflammatory action, headache
In case of localized inflammations and muscle pain massage the part by mixing ten drops of spikenard essential oil and two tablespoon of a plant-based oil such as wheat germ, hemp or sweet almond oil. In case of headache a few drops applied on the sides of your head can soothe the pain.
