In hot summer days you like fresh and tasty snacks, here you go two healthful ideas perfect for this time of year. Fresh fruit salad served in melon shell is colorful and rich in vitamins and antioxidants, Greek yogurt with chestnut honey with its slightly bitter taste and sweet pieces of melon takes proteins, energy and vitamins. Two desserts or snacks for all, adults and children!
Ingredients for the fruit salad served in melon shell, 4 persons
2 big melons
Black and white grapes
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
1 small glass of dry white wine (optional)
Ingredients for the Greek yogurt with honey, 4 persons
500 g of Greek yogurt, thick and creamy
1 tablespoon of chestnut honey
2 slices of melon
Fruit salad served in melon shell
Cut the melons in half, remove the seeds and hollow out the fruits, save the shells and put them in the fridge. Cut the pulp into cubes and put it in a large bowl, rinse the other fruit and cut the apple, the pear, the apricots, the peaches and the plums into cubes. Cut into slices the banana and into quarters the strawberries, divide in half the grapes and remove the seeds, remove cherry pits and cut cherries in half. Peel one orange and cut it into pieces. Pour all the fruit in the bowl, add the brown sugar, the glass of wine if you like and the juice of the other orange. Mix well and put in the fridge for some hours.
Then, fill the melon shells with the fruit salad and serve!
Greek yogurt with honey
Pour the Greek yogurt in a bowl and add a tablespoon of chestnut honey. Stir well with a spoon. Cut into cubes the slices of melon and add them to the yogurt, mix and put in the fridge until it’s time to serve.
