Banana is a fruit rich in fibers and sugars. It provides mineral salts, such as potassium, very important for the cardiovascular system, to regulate the blood pressure and to improve concentration in the periods of mental fatigue, magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus and selenium, vitamins such as A, group B, C, K and J, but also important antioxidants such as lutein, beta-carotene. The banana is a high-energy fruit and this makes it an ideal snack in case of tiredness and physical and mental effort. The banana reduces the sense of hunger, but given the large calorie intake, it is better not to eat more than one banana a day. The banana is also recommended in case of gastric ulcer because it is able to mitigate the action of gastric juices by protecting the stomach, as demonstrated by a study conducted by Indian researchers in 2011. It also seems that, according to a Japanese research, the more a banana is ripe with dark spots on the skin, the more antioxidants contains with beneficial effect for humans for the prevention of cancer.
