Bupleurum chinense is a plant of the Apiaceae or Umbelliferae family native to East Asia although nowadays it is widely widespread in other parts of the world. The root of the bupleurum is used to prepare remedies that, according to the traditional Chinese medicine, have detoxifying properties. But bupleurum chinense is also characterized by an anti-inflammatory and protective action for what concerns the liver, it is therefore helpful in case of liver problems and diseases such as cirrhosis or hepatitis but helps also improve digestion. In addition to this, this remedy has also a role in fortifying muscles, nails and hair and, thanks to the adaptogenic action, helps the body in case of stressful situations, removes tension and anxiety but also fever. You can take chinense bupleurum in tablets of dry extract, 500 mg, before breakfast and dinner for a month with a glass of water. Finally, a recent study published in 2015 on the scientific magazine Journal of the Balkan Union of Oncology and performed by a team of Chinese researchers revealed a potential anti-cancer effect of the Bupleurum chinense root extract against ovarian cancer since it acts by causing apoptosis, namely the death of damaged cells. Other studies will follow on the topic but research is very promising and seems to be able to paving the way for possible future medical applications.
