Bupleurum chinense is a plant of the Apiaceae or Umbelliferae family native to East Asia although nowadays it is widely widespread in other parts of the world. Finally, a recent study published in 2015 on the scientific magazine Journal of the Balkan Union of Oncology and performed by a team of Chinese researchers revealed a potential anti-cancer effect of the Bupleurum chinense root extract against ovarian cancer since it acts by causing apoptosis, namely the death of damaged cells. Other studies will follow on the topic but research is very promising and seems to be able to paving the way for possible future medical applications.
