The Chlorella seaweed is a single-cell green micro algae that lives in rivers and lakes of equatorial Africa. Rich in proteins, minerals, including iron and zinc, and vitamins, such as A, group B, C and E, this type of seaweed has detoxifying and cleansing properties for the body, in particular it is helpful to remove heavy metals and toxins that enter in our body with air, food and water. This property has been demonstrated by scientific studies, such as a research published in 2009 on the journal Nutrition Research and Practice and performed by a team of Seoul University or a study reported in 2003 by the magazine International Immunopharmacology and performed by Brazilian researchers. In addition to this, the seaweed is rich in chlorophyll, a powerful antioxidant with a cleansing effect, and it results useful to strengthen the immune system, fight the aging process and colds, bacterial and viral infections, it has also an antibiotic action. The alga Chlorella has also other benefits, in fact it has energizing properties, it can control the levels of cholesterol and glucose in the blood, according to the study published in 2008 on the scientific Journal of medicinal food by a group of researchers of the university of Kyoto, Japan. Chlorella can also regulate the blood pressure, is able to improve concentration, can purify the liver, restore the intestinal bacterial flora and support the proper functionality of the intestinal tract. You can find this seaweed in organic food stores or specialty stores in powder form, that can be added, for example, to smoothies or juices, or capsule, for the latter follow the instructions given by your herbalist. The treatment with chlorella should never exceed two months, avoid if you suffer from autoimmune diseases. In the initial phase, given the deep detoxifying action, there may be cases of diarrhea and nausea but they should be resolved in a few days.
