Drosera rotundifolia, commonly known as common sundews or round-leaved sundew, is a medicinal plant of the Droseracea family. It is a carnivorous plant, the name derives indeed from the Greek droseròs that means covered with dew because of the small drops that cover the leaves and act as bait. This remedy has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, it is an effective cough sedative, muscle relaxant on the airway smooth musculature due to a substance, the droserone contained therein, but also acts as an expectorant able to fluidify the catarrh. You can use the drosera in case of spasmodic and dry cough that persists even when you go to sleep, asthma, bronchitis. Sundews can be taken as infusion or mother tincture. The advice is to take the drosera not far from meals and to avoid it in case of gastric ulcer. Finally, do not exceed the dose and do not take the remedy for too long as this may cause irritation of the gastric mucosa.
Mother tincture
Take 30 drops of mother tincture in a little water 3 times a day after meals.
Herbal tea
Boil a cup of water, remove from heat and infuse one teaspoon of drosera for ten minutes. Filter and drink.
