The kiwifruit, or kiwi, is a berry produced by a plant of the Actinidiaceae family. The fruit, characterized by a green pulp and small black seeds, is rich in vitamin C, very important in order to strengthen the immune system, but also vitamin A, E, B, K, J, minerals such as potassium, calcium and phosphorus, and antioxidants. It has laxative and diuretic properties, for this reason the fruit results important against water retention and constipation. In case of constipation you can do this: in the morning, for breakfast, peel two kiwifruits and crush them with a fork, then leave them for about ten minutes. Add the pulp of the kiwis to the yogurt, complete with a handful of whole grains flakes. The kiwi also helps to control the bad cholesterol, blood sugar and high blood pressure and is beneficial for blood circulation. A study, performed a few years ago on more than 110,000 men and women and published on the journal Archives of Ophthalmology, showed that eating three portions of fruit a day helps to reduce the risk of advanced age-related macular degeneration. This property is provided by the presence of lutein and zeaxantine, substances in which the kiwi is rich. So this fruit is also beneficial for eye protection.
