Lemon balm has antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and carminative effect, for this reason it is used to sooth menstrual cramps and treat digestive problems, colitis and abdominal cramps. Thanks to the antispasmodic properties, lemon balm can also be very helpful in case of anxiety, stress, nervous breakdown and possible somatization because this plant is able to treat the contractions of the organs: of the heart that can cause tachycardia, of the nervous system with insomnia, headache and tiredness, of the respiratory system with asthma attacks or cough.
Herbal infusions
Try this tea especially in case of menstrual cramps and abdominal cramps or colitis. Leave to brew one tablespoon of dried lemon balm leaves in a cup of water for 10 minutes, strain and drink when it is needed.
Decoction
In case of breakdown and headache try the decoction. Add one tablespoon of dried lemon balm to a cup of cold water, boil for some minutes. Then remove from heat and let stand for a couple of minutes, strain and drink.
