Motherwort
Action on the heart, useful in case of extrasystoles, palpitations, arrhythmia, anxiety, insomnia and hypertension

Leonurus cardiaca, known also as motherwort, is a medicinal plant belonging to the Labiatae family. The motherwort acts on the heart and this property was already known to the ancient Greeks. The plant causes vasodilation, lowers blood pressure and decreases the frequency of cardiac rhythm. It is therefore applicable in cases of altered heartbeat, arrhythmia, extrasystoles, palpitations but also anxiety, insomnia, heart in the throat and hypertension. Due to the action of the plant also as uterine stimulant it is better to avoid to take motherwort in pregnancy. You can use motherwort in the mother tincture form, the recommended dosage is 40 drops diluted in a bit of water from one to three times a day between meals.
