Diuretic, digestive and antioxidant properties, remedy in case of constipation, useful to treat joint and muscle pain, useful in case of rheumatism
There are two types of mustard seeds: yellow mustard seeds, with big yellow seeds, and black mustard seeds with black seeds. Mustard helps digestion but it is better not to exceed with mustard because it can irritate the stomach. All the types of mustard are rich in mineral salts such as calcium, magnesium, potassium , and vitamins, such as vitamin A, E, C, of group B, and antioxidants. Yellow and black mustard seeds are the ingredients to prepare mustard sauce, but, in addition to this, it is possible to use mustard seeds to treat some common illnesses.


For a diuretic and digestive action prepare a decoction with one tablespoon of black mustard seeds in one liter of water, boil and let simmer for some minutes, then remove from heat and strain. Drink up to three cups a day.

In case of constipation, add the seeds to a glass of water, let them steep for an hour, then eat one teaspoon of such seeds in the morning before breakfast for a couple of days. For children half teaspoon.


In case of rheumatism, joint pain and muscle pain mix flax flour and black mustard seeds flour, the latter should be around 100 gr, add some water and heat to 40° C. Apply on the part and bandage.
