Naturally beautiful Part 1, The Autumn Cosmetic

Apples and chestnuts are Autumn fruits, they aren’t just yummy and healthy but also useful ingredients for beauty products thanks to their content in malic acid and tannins, for an antioxidant, exfoliating and astringent action

Autumn brings the first cold days but also the marvelous colors of nature that becomes deep red, bright orange and light yellow. But this period of the year brings also amazing ingredients to take care of your beauty in a natural way, simple but effective. And you don’t have to be worried about INCI, the label that, by law, should list all the substances used in a cosmetic product, because you have full control of all the ingredients. Let’s see how to take advantage from the gifts of Autumn in order to create by yourself little natural cosmetics.

Apple

Autumn is the season of apples! Apples aren’t just yummy and juicy but also interesting beauty ingredients thanks to their content in malic acid, that gives the characteristic sour taste. Malic acid, inserted in several cosmetics used for scrub and peeling [1], makes apple an excellent exfoliating agent, able to activate the collagen and balance the production of sebum. For this reason, this ingredient can be used to prepare beauty face masks for acne prone skin, oily skin but also mature skin with wrinkles. Choose a green apple, the variety that contains the most quantity of malic acid, and blend the pulp with a blender. Add a tablespoon of yogurt and a teaspoon of honey, apply on the face for 15 minutes.

Then rinse and apply your daily cream.

Chestnuts

Oh yes, also chestnuts can be incredible allies for your beauty because their pulp results antioxidant and astringent thanks to the presence of tannins [2]. You can prepare a mask, for all types of skin, that is able to make the skin relaxed, luminous and compact, to attenuate little wrinkles and to soothe inflammations. Boil a handful of chestnuts, take the pulp and crush it with a fork. Add two tablespoons of yogurt and apply on clean face for 15 minutes, then rinse and apply your daily cream. And why not prepare a wonderful scrub, always with chestnuts? For this purpose, you should find chestnut flour and mix it with a little thermal water, add half a teaspoon of honey and use for an exfoliating massage.
