Oregano is not just a very tasty spice, but it has also antioxidant, antiseptic and antifungal properties. For this reason oregano is very helpful in case of skin infections or athlete’s foot. In addition to this properties, oregano gives also calm in case of stress, anxiety and tachycardia. The spice helps also stomach and intestine to perform their functions, heals apthae or mouth infections, has detox properties. If used as steam inhalation it is also a remedy to treat cold, asthma or cough. Do not use it during pregnancy or lactation.
Spice
Add oregano to tomato sauce, salads or pizza.
Herbal tea
For a calming action leave to brew 1 teaspoon of dry oregano to a liter of water for 5 minutes, strain and drink. In case of insomnia drink a cup of oregano herbal tea before bed.
Essential oil
Prepare steam inhalation by adding 3-4 drops of oregano essential oil in order to treat cold, asthma, cough or catarrh. If you mix oregano essential oil with an oil, like sweet almond oil or olive oil, apply it on the skin in case of fungus or skin infections.
Gargle
Prepare an oregano herbal tea by taking one handful of dry oregano for one liter of water, leave to brew for 5 minutes, strain and, when the tea is no longer hot, gargle, helpful in case of aphtae or mouth infections
