Pineapple is mostly constituted by water, it contains also important vitamins, such as vitamin A, vitamins of group B, C, K, mineral salts such as manganese, potassium, phosphorus and magnesium. This fruit contains also an enzyme, the bromelain, with a powerful anti-inflammatory action, for this reason it results helpful in case of cystitis, gastritis, colitis and irritable bowel syndrome, prostatitis. Pineapple helps also the digestion, mostly after heavy meals or for those with digestive problems, and it seems to reduce the possibility of thrombus formation by improving the circulation. Finally, the pineapple has a diuretic action, it counteracts the water retention and is helpful in case of cellulite. Pineapple can be eaten as fresh fruit, in fruit salads or as juice. But remember not to completely remove the middle part, more harder, but rich in bromelain. If you are taking anticoagulants it is better not to exceed in the consumption of pineapple.
