Nowadays it is possible to take the mother tincture or to prepare an herbal tea with the horehound and take benefit from its tonic, expectorant, mucus-thinning, antispasmodic, digestive and antiarrhythmic action. Horehound is therefore useful in case of bronchitis, acute and chronic, and cough, acts as a sedative and helps get rid of the phlegm. The horehound can also be used in case of poor digestion and loss of appetite, asthenia, cellulite and overweight, extra systole. Before seeing how it is possible to take the horehound, let’s report some warnings, white horehound should be avoided in case of ulcer, gastritis or during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Excessive use may cause changes in heart rhythm.
Mother Tincture
You can take 30 drops of white horehound mother tincture in a little water 3 times a day.
Herbal tea
Bring 1 liter of water to boil, then remove from the heat and infuse 30 grams of dried horehound, you can find it in herbalist's shop. Let the infusion rest for fifteen minutes then filter and drink up to two cups, if the taste is too bitter you can sweeten with honey
