With spring nature and… allergies awaken. In a moment sneezing, stuffy nose and, sometimes, even asthma forcefully enter our life. Allergy triggers inflammation, also fueled by the accumulation of toxins in the winter. Yoga can come to the rescue, helping to clear the nose, sweep away allergens and toxins and thus counteract inflammation.
Start with a variation of alternate nostril breathing. Sit cross-legged. Close the right nostril with your thumb and inhale from the left nostril for 2 seconds, close both nostrils for 4 seconds, then exhale for 2 seconds with the right nostril. Inhale for two seconds from the same nostril, close both nostrils for 4 seconds, then exhale from the left nostril for 2 seconds, and so on.
Extend your legs in front of you. Then bend the right leg bringing the foot closer to the buttocks. Bring the outside of the right shoulder in contact with the inside of the right knee. Clasp your hands behind your back by slightly bending your torso forward, breathe. Release the position and repeat on the other side.
Bend your right leg again. Now turn the torso to the right, the left elbow presses against the right knee. Breathe. Each time you inhale, try to rotate a little more. Then repeat on the other side.
Extend both legs in front of you and spread out beyond the width of the mat. Put your arms under your knees and slide them backwards, lowering your torso to the ground.
Return to a sitting position, open your chest. Take a couple of slow breaths. Then exhale with full force, the inhale will follow automatically. Then exhale again forcefully, the inhale will be automatic as before. Breathe slowly again.
