Yoga for the first chakra, let’s strengthen your roots
The first chakra is located at the base of the spine, it represents our roots and foundations on which we create our life. The gut is connected to the first chakra and a block in this energy center may cause back pain, sciatica, constipation but also insecurity and nervousness. We’ll see a yoga sequence that works on the first chakra, by unlocking it, helping us to find confidence, calm and well-being.
You are standing on the mat, your hands are praying. Take your left foot off and place your heel on your right ankle. Slide your foot up to the knee. Then grab the left ankle with your right hand as the left arm passes behind the back and hooks the other arm. Breathe. Then release and repeat with the other leg. This is a variation of the yoga position of the tree.
You are standing on the mat, spread your legs and rotate your right foot 90 degree. Raise your arms to shoulder height and lower your torso to the side until you touch the ground with your right hand. Repeat on the other side. This is the yoga position of the triangle.
You are standing on the mat, stretch upwards and then go down with your torso until you touch the ground. Bend your knees, spread your legs so that your knees are facing out. The elbows press against the knees and the hands are praying.
You are on all fours. Bring your right foot between your hands, swing your weight back and forth for a few breaths. Then, look for balance and take your hands off, stretch your arms upwards. Stay for a few breaths. Then repeat on the other side.
